Different countries have their own unique culture, it would be benefitial for any photographer to understand some of these culture before starting out on a photography trip
Cultural and Religious Ceremonies
In most countries religious ceremonies are consider sacred. For example most native American cultural and religious ceremonies require special permission to attend or, in some cases, may not allow visitors at all. In some tribes a host family will extend a personal invitation to visitors and inform them of the correct protocol. All the tribes hold their religion and traditions in high regard. Sacred rites must not be defiled; artifacts are not to be removed or disturbed. It should always be kept in mind that the dance area is sacred. Flash photography is not allowed during contests, and it is polite to ask dancers and singers before taking pictures.
Paying to Shoot
Some street performers would ask for a token sum if you wish to take pictures of them while they perform. Likely to find them in Europe and North America.
Local Regulation / Cultural Restriction
Make sure you are aware of any cultural restrictions or local sensitivites on photography. border are often sensitive areas, as are airports, bridges an anything tha tresembles a military checkpoint or installation.
