Notes - At Your Destination |
| When
you arrived at a new destination, |
|
| -
Go walking, the faster you get a feel of the place the better |
| |
|
| -
Confirm the dates and times of the events that you pre-trip research
uncovered |
| |
|
| -
Confirm the opening hours of the place of interest. |
| |
|
| -
Ask if anything interesting is happening in the area. There are far
too many local festivals and events the guides books to list. |
| |
|
| -
If you know something is on, don't be put off by the fact that the
tourist office may have no idea what you are talking about. Some festivals
are so local that half of the locals don't even know they are on |
| |
|
| -
Ask the same questions of a variety of people, not just the Tourist
Office, ask the people at the hotels, taxi drivers, waiters, etc.
This are the people that can gives you useful information |
| |
|
| -
Check out postcards, tourist publishcations, local magazines, and
books - they provide a good overview of the places of interest, as
well as a guide to potentially vantage points. |
| |
|
| -
Speak to others travellers and find out what they have seen and learnt. |
